JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION 2012 (NT – JEE 2012)
For Admission to Undergraduate Courses at Indian Institutes of Technology BHUBANESWAR, BOMBAY, DELHI, GANDHINAGAR, GUWAHATI, HYDERABAD, INDORE, KANPUR, KHARAGPUR, MADRAS, MANDI, PATNA, RAJASTHAN, ROORKEE, ROPAR, IT-BHU VARANASI and ISM DHANBAD
Date of Examination: 8 April 2012 (Sunday) – Paper 1: 09.00 to 12.00 hrs; Paper 2: 14.00 to 17.00 hrs

Admission to the undergraduate programmes in all the above institutes is only through a Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). There will be two question papers, each of three hours duration in IIT-JEE 2012. Both the question papers will consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics Questions will be of objective type. The detailed syllabus is available on the websites of all IITs and in the Information Brochure of IIT-JEE 2012. A candidate can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi.

ELIGIBILITY
The applicant is advised to check ALL eligibility conditions given below for appearing in IIT-JEE 2012:
Date of Birth: Candidales of GE and OBC categories must have been born on or after 1st October 1987 and those of SC, ST and PD categories must have been bom on or after 1st October 1982.
Year of Passing Qualifying Examination (QE): Acandidale must have passed the QE namely, XII standard or equivalent, for the first time on or after 1st October 2010 or should be appearing in 2012.
Minimum Percentage of Marks in QE: Candidates of GE and OBC categories must secure at least 60% marks, and those of SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the QE.
Attempts Permitted: Those who appeared in JEE in 2010 or earlier are not eligible to appear in IIT-JEE 2012.
Admission taken through JEE earlier: A candidate who has accepted admission, by paying registration fee to any of the programmes at IITs, IT-BHU Varanasi and ISM Dhanbad based on performance in JEE-2011 will not be eligible to write IIT-JEE 2012 irrespective of whether or not he/she joined.

RESERVATION OF SEATS
(i) For OBC (non-creamy layer), SC and ST candidates who qualify under relaxed norms, respectively 27%, 15% and 7.5% seats are reserved in each programme.
(ii) For candidates with physical disability (PD). otherwise fit to pursue the course, who qualify under relaxed norms, 3% seats are reserved in each of the categories (viz. GE, OBC, SC, and ST).
(iii) Two seats in each Institute are preferentially allotted to children of defence/ paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations (DS) provided the candidate qualifies without anyrelaxed criterion.
(iv) Some SC/ST/PD candidates, who do not qualify in IIT-JEE 2012, may be offered admission to a Preparatory Course of one-year duration provided (a) seats reserved for respective category are vacant, (b) candidates satisfy minimum norms, and (c) candidates have not registered for the Preparatory Course earlier in any of these institutes. Candidates successfully completing the Preparatory Course will be offered direct admission to the first year in the academic year 2013-14.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
A candidate can submit application either Online, through internet, or Offline, on a presenbed application form (OMR). Offline application form cost includes Rs.200/- processing charges.
Applicant category (Gender):
GE/OBC (Male): Online: Rs. 1600/-, Offline Rs.1800/-
SC/ST/PD (Male): Online: Rs. 800/-, Offline Rs.1000/-
All categories, Female: Online: NIL, Offline Rs.200/-

Payment Mode: Through challan of selected banks

Candidates who wish to appear for IIT-JEE 2012 in Dubai city must apply online with a free of US$ 200.

Completed Offline or printed copy of the Online Application Form to reach IITs: ON or Before 15 December 2011
