Christchurch Educated, New Zealand Skills Scholarships – 2014

christchurch_educatedThe Christchurch Educated Skills Scholarship programme is targeted at Indian graduates wishing to study at post graduate level in Christchurch in specific disciplines which are aligned to clearly identified skill shortage areas associated with the rebuild programme such as Construction, Engineering, ICT and Science. The programme is supported by Education New Zealand and the Canterbury Development Corporation, the economic development agency of the Christchurch City Council. The Christchurch Educated Skills Scholarships on offer are designed to address specific skills shortages and therefore the approved courses of study associated with the programme are directly related to these areas of need.

Skill Shortage Areas
The skill shortage areas are:

  • Construction
  • Engineering
  • Telecommunications
  • ICT
  • Science

Who can apply
Christchurch Educated Skills Scholarships are available to graduates of reputable tertiary institutions in India who:
(a)    Already hold an undergraduate qualification related to one of the identified skill shortage areas (see the Canterbury Skill Shortage List:

Total Value of Skills Scholarships to be awarded: A maximum of 15 Christchurch Educated Skills Scholarship valued at NZD$10,000 each are available.

TC Beirne School of Law Scholarship for Master of Laws Program – University of Queensland, Australia

As part of this commitment, the School is offering students the opportunity to apply for the TC Beirne School of Law Scholarship. This Scholarship will provide assistance to overseas students* enrolled or enrolling full-time in the Master of Laws (LLM)  program.

The Scholarship will take the form of monetary assistance to help with living expenses for 12 months and will be paid in two installments – one during Semester 1 and one during Semester 2. Applicants should note that they will be responsible for the payment of all tuition fees associated with their program.

Applicants will be assessed on the following criteria:

  1. Academic merit
  2. Significant financial need
  3. Express interest in the study of law, with a view to using that study in some future occupation
  4. Proposed budget

Applicants should note that the total number of scholarships, and the duration and amount of each scholarship to be awarded will be determined on an annual basis by the TC Beirne School of Law Scholarship Endowment Fund Selection Committee.

Inlaks Scholarships – 2014

InlaksInlaks Scholarships provide the opportunity to young people with exceptional talent in any field to broaden their vision abroad and improve their skills to operate in society, thus making them a future vehicle of change in their environment. The scholarships are of two types: university courses and specific programs.

University Courses: Scholarships are granted at top American, European and UK institutions, for funding requirements including tuition fees.

Specific Programmes Proposed by the Candidate: Scholarships for research, training or professional improvement to be carried out abroad either independently, or attached to a leading institution, and not leading to a degree. Candidates are expected to provide full details of their proposed programs, including time and travelling plans, a full breakdown of costs, and evidence of agreement with such institutions, if required.

Eligibility

  • Scholarships are open to all Indian citizens who are resident in India at the time of application. Candidates are normally expected to hold a good first degree from a recognized university in India. Indian citizens who hold a good undergraduate degree from a recognized university outside India, must have resided continuously and been employed or been studying in India, for at least two years, at the time of application. People holding a postgraduate degree (e.g. Masters or PhD) from a university outside India are not eligible; those who have started but not completed a postgraduate degree outside India are also ineligible.
  • It is essential to have prior admission to the institution and course chosen. The Foundation will not consider candidates without admission or pending admission. The institutions concerned must only be top rank.
  • Candidates must be below 30 years of age on the first of July in the year of application. Candidates who are already studying or have started their program abroad are not eligible.
  • The award of other grants, teaching assistantships and support from other sources for the proposed program will be regarded by the Foundation as a positive factor. The Foundation also encourages applications from young people currently employed.

Application and Selection Procedure: Application forms are available from the 10th of January to the 15th of April from the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation, c/o Inlaks India Foundation, 86/87 Atlanta, Nariman Point Mumbai 400021. They must be completed by the candidate and submitted at the same address by 15th of April.

Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship – London Metropolitan University, UK

london metropolitan universityThe Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Programme at London Metropolitan University has been set up to honour the major political and spiritual leader of India, who is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation.

The scholarship supports one student from India and covers the tuition fees for a Master’s programme at London Met.

The scholarship will be awarded to the most outstanding postgraduate student on the basis of excellent academic performance in India.

The recipient must also demonstrate the potential for leadership and social change as exemplified by Gandhi.

Important entry criteria
You must:

  • have an unconditional offer to study at London Met on one of London Met’s Masters courses.
  • have 80% or above in Class X.
  • have 80% or above in Class XII.
  • have a First Class Honours Bachelors degree from a good Indian university.
  • have an overall IELTS score of 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 in each component or SELT equivalent.
  • be a national of India.

How to apply

  • Scholarship applicants can complete and email the Word Scholarship application form or apply online.
  • The deadline is 30 April 2014 for the September 2014 intake.
  • Students short-listed for the awards will be invited to come to Delhi Gandhi Smriti for one day for selection. This will consist of a group discussionwith the panel, a 6 minute presentation from each candidate, followed by questions.

World Citizen Talent Scholarship – Hague University – Netherlands

Hague UniversityHague University – Netherlands offers a total of 9 scholarships to students who would like to start their Master programme during the academic year 2014-2015. At € 5,000 each, the scholarships covers a large sum of the university’s tuition fee and will only be awarded once. The scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee waiver.

If you would like to apply for World Citizen Talent Scholarship, you can do so as of November 2013, for the academic year 2014-2015.

Eligibility scholarship
You are eligible to apply for one of these scholarships if:

  • You are enrolling for the first time for one of our International Master programmes
  • The scholarship is a tuition fee waiver.
  • You have fully completed the scholarship application form
  • You will have been provisionally accepted as a student on or before 31 March
  • You have written an essay, as explained below

Are you a world citizen?
Hague University is seeking young, intelligent, talented and ambitious people who view themselves as citizens of the world. By submitting your essay, you are giving them the right to publish it, if they so wish. They will also expect the lucky winners to help them with evaluations, and developments regarding the internationalization of their institute. You’ll agree that this is a small price to pay for getting an education that will open up avenues to an interesting and successful career in a field of your choice.

Janssen Phamaceutica Scholarships – King’s College, London

  • Applicants must hold an offer of admission to the MSc in Global Mental Health commencing in 2014/15.
    • A strong preference will be given to applicants who are nationals of, and have been ordinarily resident in, low- and middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) for the last three years. Consideration will also be given to exceptional applicants from other backgrounds.
    • Applicants from non-English speaking countries must meet the following English Language Requirements: 7.0 overall for IELTS, with at least 7.0 for written English and at least 6.0 for the other skills.

Information about the funding
King’s College London & The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is offering Janssen Pharmaceutica Scholarships to as up to three students accepted onto the 2014-15 MSc in Global Mental Health.

The MSc in Global Mental Health is a joint programme provided by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to initiate, develop and oversee mental health policies and/or programmes in low-resource settings, and to conduct and critically evaluate research on global mental health. These skills and knowledge will make it possible for students to make valuable contributions in the domains of research, public health, policy and practice as they relate to the discipline of global mental health.

Value of award
Each scholarship will cover full overseas tuition fees and a living expense stipend of £14,000.

Ashok Khurana Scholarship for Outstanding Indian Students

university of adelaideThis scholarship has been established by Professor Ashok Khurana to support the post-graduate education of outstanding Indian students who are undertaking full time post-graduate studies at the University.

The scholarship consists of $25,000 for one year, payable towards the recipient’s airfares, living expenses and tuition fees. The successful applicant will also receive a 50% discount on the tuition fees for one year of their program.

The Scholarship will be open to candidates who will be undertaking a postgraduate coursework program of study, on a full time basis at the University in the areas of:

  • Education;
  • Agriculture (including Food Security and Wine);
  • Health Services (including Biotechnology);
  • Clean Technology;
  • Environment (including Urban Planning and Architecture);
  • Aerospace;
  • Resources; and any other programs as agreed by the Donor and the University

Selection of the successful applicant will be made according to:

  • academic merit; and
  • a personal statement which demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities and an intention to significantly enhance India’s development in their field of study upon completion of their studies.
