CENTRE FOR DISTANCE AND VIRTUAL LEARNING

The University of Hyderabad, a premier institution of post graduate teaching and research in the country, was established by an Act of Parliament on 2nd October, 1974 as a Central University. The serene campus of the University, located on a sprawling 2000 acres, on the old Mumbai Highway, Gachibowli, provides the right learning ambience. The University offers professional Postgraduate Diploma Programmes in the Distance Mode especially in interdisciplinary subjects.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Admissions to the Distance Education PG Diploma programmes are open to all those who fulfill prescribed qualifications without any discrimination of race, caste, creed, language, age or sex. Admissions are made strictly on the basis of merit. However Entrance Examination will be conducted for the Management Diploma course viz., PGDBM. The marks obtained by the applicants in their graduate examination (i.e., B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. / B.Lib.Sc. / B.E. / B.Tech. / M.A. / M.Sc. / M.Com. / MBA etc.) is the basis on which the merit list for admission is prepared for all courses. Therefore only students who have completed their courses/degree or at least have taken their final examinations (awaiting results) are eligible to apply for admission into these Post-Graduate Diploma Programmes.

ADMISSION: Students found eligible will be issued Provisional admission letter. Only the students who pay the fees within the stipulated date are treated as admitted. Mere receipt of admission offer letter does not entitle any right to claim admission.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS: Applications completed in all respects accompanied by copies of relevant certificates attested can be sent to the following address on or before the last date prescribed on the admission application form. PROGRAMME SCHEDULE: The programmes are spread over two terms in a year (Jan- Dec). Those who are not in a position to complete all the papers in the two terms at a stretch can defer a term or a part thereof, provided they complete the programme within a total period of three years, including the year in which the students are enrolled.

CONTACT CLASSES AND PRACTICAL WORK: All students admitted to the distance education programmes are required to attend contact classes at the University campuses. The contact classes will be 6 to 10 days in a term. 70% attendance is mandatory in the contact classes and practical sessions. They must participate, to the satisfaction of the Co-ordinator of a programme or tutors of the courses and the Director, CDVL, in study-seminars, sessions and counseling sessions as may be prescribed. This carries a weight age of 10% of the total marks.

Applications are invited for the position of a Field Assistant in the DBT- funded project on “Identification of candidate genes for water use efficiency in rice using activation tagging”

Position: Field Assistant (Temporary, up to September 2015) Qualification; Minimum 10th Class Pass Remuneration: 5000/- per month fixed

Experience: The candidate should have experience in the maintenance of plants in the field. Cleaning glassware is an additional qualification.

UOH CDE invites applications for Distance Education Programmes

The Centre for Distance Education (CDE) at the University of Hyderabad is inviting applications for the One year Post Graduate Diploma Programme in various courses for the year 2011 through distance mode. The interested candidates may download the Application Forms from the university website http://www.uohyd.ernet.in and the printed prospectus-cum-application form can be obtained from the Centre for Distance Education, Golden Threshold Building, Nampally Station Road, Abids, Hyderabad, by paying Rs. 350.00.

University of Hyderabad Admission Announcement 2010-11

The University of Hyderabad, a premier institution of Postgraduate teaching and research offers admission into different courses on all-India basis in order of merit in the entrance examination. The University offers boarding / boarding cum lodging allowances fellowships to all the students admitted to any of its regular programmes of study.

COURSES OFFERED

5-Year Integrated M.A., M.Sc. Courses: (10 Semesters) (after +2 education) in Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences.

PG Courses: (4/6 semesters) (after 10 + 2 + 3 education) in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Communication, Business Administration in Health Care and Hospital Management, Health Psychology and Master of ComputerApplications.

Adv. PG Diploma and P.G Diploma Courses: (2 semesters) in Folk Culture Studies, Mineral Exploration, Counseling Psychology and Health Fitness and Life Style Management.

M.Tech. Programmes: (4 semesters) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology (CS/AI/IT), Computational Techniques, Integrated Circuit Technology, Bioinformatics, Mineral Exploration and Materials Engineering.

The University reserves the right to cancel any of the examination centres and allot another centre closer to the centre cancelled.

Cost of each copy of Prospectus-cum-Application Form (Separate application is required for each course): For General & OBC Category Rs. 400/- For SC/ST/PH Category Rs. 150/-

General Information: Detailed information is given in the Prospectus-cum-Application Form 2010-11. Candidates who are appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree and expecting their results and certificates before 31s1 July 2010 are also eligible to apply.

Reservation of seats: Reservation of seats shall be as per the GOI/UGC norms for SC/ST/OBC/PH and wards/dependants of defence personnel, Kashmiri migrants and foreign nationals/NRIs. Few seats are also provided to the nominees from some UT/NE states. Relaxation in the prescribed percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination is also provided for SC/ST/PH categories.

Hostel accommodation: Hostel accommodation is not guaranteed to all the students admitted due to paucity.

How to apply: Prospectus-cum-Application Forms can be obtained in person from the Academic Section, Office of the Controller of Examinations, Administration Building in the University Campus, Hyderabad – 500 046 against cash payment. The Prospectus-cum-Application Form/s can also be obtained by ordinary post from the Dy. Registrar (Acad. & Exams), University of Hyderabad, P.O. Central University, Hyderabad – 500 046 by sending (a) a requisition, (b) one self-addressed adhesive sticker/slip, and (c) a crossed demand draft for the amount specified for the respective category i.e., Rs.450/- in the case of General & OBC Category and Rs. 200/- in the case of SC/ST/PH categories for each copy of Prospectus-cum-Application Form which includes Rs. 50/- towards the ordinary postal charges, drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Hyderabad, on State Bank of India, Hyderabad Central University Campus Branch, Hyderabad (Code 5916) or on Andhra Bank, Nampally Branch, Hyderabad (Code 378). The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can also be downloaded from the University’s website (available from 07.4.2010 to 3.5.2010) and the duly filled in application must be sent to the Dy. Registrar (Acad. & Exams) to the above address enclosing a bank draft of Rs.200/- for each course in the case of General and OBC Category and Rs.75/- for each course in the case of SC/ST/PH categories, so as to reach him before 03-05-2010.
