Common Admission Test (CAT) for IIMs – 2018

Common Admission Test
CAT 2018

The Indian Institutes of Management will conduct computer-based Common Admission Test 2018 (CAT 2018) on 25th November, 2018 in two sessions. Detailed information on CAT 2018 may be obtained from the CAT website.

CAT 2018 is a pre-requisite for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow programmes of IIMs. CAT 2018 Scores are allowed to be used by listed non-IIM member institutions. A list of such institutions is provided on CAT website. IIMs have no role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions.

CAT 2018 ELIGIBILITY
Please refer to the detailed notification on the CAT website. Applicants should note that mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for shortlisting by IIMs.

RESERVATIONS
Refer to the CAT website for information regarding reservation of seats for various categories of applicants. No change in the category will be entertained after CAT registration; hence, the applicants are advised to give attention while registering.

REGISTRATION FEES
Rs. 950 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates. Rs.1900 for all other categories of candidates.

Please note that a candidate needs to pay registration fees only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for. Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

IMPORTANT DATES
Registration opens: August 08, 2018
Registration closes: September 19, 2018 (5:00 pm)
Admit card download: October 24 – November 25, 2018
Test Date: November 25, 2018
Result declaration: Second week of January, 2019 (Tentative)

TEST CENTRES
CAT will be conducted in test centres spread across around 147 test cities. Candidates will be given option to select any four test cities in order of their preference.

Any dispute concerning CAT 2018 would be subject to Jurisdiction of the competent Courts within the territorial jurisdiction of the City of Kolkata only.

IMPORTANT
Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a mobile phone number throughout the selection process.

CAT Eligibility
• The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons With Disability (PWD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of the Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
• Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. However, it may be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal / Registrar of their University/institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.
• Candidates applying for CAT 2018 should fulfill any one of the following conditions:
a) Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks*
b) Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with required percentage*.
c) Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage*.
* SC / ST / PWD candidates should have minimum 45%. For General and NC-OBC candidates, minimum is 50%.
• The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution. If any University/institution confirms that there is no scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiplying the result with 100.
• IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.iimcat.ac.in. Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs. Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.

RESERVATION
• As per the legal requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “non-creamy” layer (NC-OBC).
• For the purpose of being considered for reservations, the applicable Central Government list as on the last date of CAT registration shall be binding. No subsequent changes will be effective for CAT 2018 and any subsequent selection process of the IIMs. For an updated central list of state – wise OBCs eligible for availing the benefit of reservation and information in respect of the creamy layer, visit the website http://www.ncbc.nic.in
• As per the provisions of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016), 5% seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD). “Person with benchmark disability” means a person with not less than forty percent (40%) of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes a person with disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “Specified disability” means the disabilities as specified in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016. The categories of disability are:
a) Blindness and low vision
b) Deaf and hard of hearing
c) Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy.
d) Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness
e) Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d)
f) Other ‘specified disabilities’ mentioned in ‘The Schedule’ of the RPwD Act 2016
• The candidates belonging to the reserved categories need to note the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavor of IIMs that the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/NC-OBC categories join the Programme in proportions mandated by the law, they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria and a certain minimum level of performance to be considered for the admission process.
• The candidates should read the updated description of selection process followed by each IIM on their respective websites. No change in the category will be entertained after CAT registration; hence, the applicants are advised to give attention while registering.

Additional Information for SC, ST, NC-OBC, and PWD Candidates
• If a candidate belongs to SC or ST categories, respective caste / tribe must be listed in the Government of India schedule. The caste certificate that the candidate submits to IIM should be in the Government approved format and should clearly state: (a) Name of the caste/tribe; (b) Whether the candidate belongs to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe; (c) District and the State or Union Territory of candidate’s ordinary residence; and (d) the appropriate Government of India schedule under which candidate’s caste/tribe is approved by it as Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe.
• A copy of the SC / ST / NC-OB C / PWD certificate(s) must be uploaded at the time of CAT Application registration. Failure to upload a copy of the caste/class certificate will result in the rejection of your CAT registration.
• The SC / ST / NC-OBC / PWD certificate(s) must be shown and a photocopy should be submitted at the time of interviews. Moreover, the certificate(s) must be submitted at the time of joining the programmes of any of the IIMs. Failure to do so during the post CAT selection process will result in the candidate not being considered under the reserved category

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2014

The Indian Institutes of Management will conduct Common Admission Test 2014 (CAT 2014) during a 2-day testing window (4 sessions) on 16th & 22nd November, 2014. CAT 2014 will be conducted by IIMs as a pre-requisite for admission to various management programs of IIMs. These programs are:

Fellow Programmes in Management (FPM) [equivalent to Ph.D.] of IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kashipur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, RGIIM Shillong, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur and EFPM programme of IIM Kashipur and IIM Raipur.

Separate advertisements will appear for the Fellow Programme of each institute as well as PGP-ABM of IIM Ahmedabad, PGPEM and PGPPM of IIM Bangalore, PGP-Mumbai, PGP-UAE & EPGP of IIM Indore, EPGPM of IIM Kashipur, PGP-ABM & PGPSM of IIM Lucknow, PGPWE of IIM Raipur, PGDHRM of IIM Ranchi, PGPEX of RGIIM Shillong, PGPBM & PGPHRM of IIM Tiruchirappalli. Before a prospective candidate makes a decision to appear for CAT 2014, he/she must visit the websites and/or read programme advertisements of the concerned IIM and specific programmes to ensure which programmes they want to apply for, eligibility requirements and admission processes.

CAT2014 ELIGIBILITY: A candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may also be referred to as Persons With Disability (PWD) categories), awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

A candidate can appear for CAT2014 only once during the 2-day testing window (4 sessions).

RESERVATIONS: As per Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for SC and 7.5% for ST candidates. For Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “non-creamy” layer (NC-OBC) 27% of the seats are reserved. For an updated central list of state-wise OBCs eligible for availing the benefit of reservation and information in respect of the creamy layer visit the website www.ncbc.nic.in.

PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION FEES: The registration fee is Rs. 1600 for General and NC-OBC candidates and Rs. 800 for SC/ST/PWD (DA) candidates, which is to be paid online at the time of registration. The details will be available on www.iimcat.ac.in.

REGISTRATION FOR CAT2014: The registration window opens on 6th August, 2014 and will close on 30th September, 2014. The details about the registration process will be available on CAT 2014 website www.iimcat.ac.in.

TEST CITIES: There are 99 test cities. The details about the test sites spread across 99 test cities will be available on www.iimcat.ac.in from 16th Oct, 2014 and the name of the test site will be indicated in her/his Admit Card.

CAT2014 SCORES: A candidate’s CAT 2014 score card will be made available at the www.iimcat.ac.in and individual information will not be senLThe CAT results will be declared during 3rd week of December, 2014. CAT 2014 score will remain valid till December 31, 2015. The CAT 2014 candidates’scores will be made available till December 31,2015. Subsequent to that date no queries related to issuance of CAT 2014 score cards will be entertained.
