ISRO Inviting Applications for JRFs

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates, for the Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs), on temporary basis, for a maximum period of three years. The Number of vacancies and essential qualifications etc. are indicated below:

JRF02 Three [03] M.Tech. / M.Sc (Tech.) in Geophysics / Applied Geophysics with Physics as one of the subjects in graduation level.
(or)M.Sc in Geophysics / Applied Geophysics with Physics as one of the subjects in graduation level.
Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environment, computer programming knowledge (C, Fortran, VB etc.,) Knowledge in Remote Sensing proficiency in Matlab.
JRF03 One [01] M.Sc Chemistry with specialization in inorganic/analytical/Marine Chemistry. Knowledge in the ocean data collection is preferred.
JRF04 One [01] M.Sc. Physics/Physical Oceanography/ Marine Science with Physcial Oceanography. Knowledge in numerical methods and programming is preferred.
JRF05 One [01] M.Tech in Geo-informatics Working knowledge in MATLAB, ARCGIS and soft coding.

Note:
1) In respect of Post No. JRF02, M.Sc., candidates shall be considered in case candidates with suitable M.Tech / M.Sc., (Tech) candidates are not screened-in for interview or not selected in the interview.
2) ME/M.Tech/M.Sc., (Engg) or equivalent degree should be in First class with an aggregate minimum of 60% or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 scale or equivalent and pre-eligibility qualification of BE/B.Tech/B.Sc., (Engg) or equivalent should also be in First Class with an aggregate of 65% (Average of all semesters).
3) M.Sc., Degree should be in first class with minimum 65% marks as average of all semesters or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent.

Age Limit:
18-28 years as on 30.11.2013. SC, ST, OBC, and Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Emoluments:
An amount of Rs.16,000/- per month shall be paid in case of candidates recruited with BE/B.Tech/M.Sc., for the 1st and 2nd years and for the subsequent years Rs.18,000/- per month shall be paid.

In the case of candidates recruited with M.Tech/M.Sc.,(Tech), Rs.18,000/- per month shall be paid for the 1st and 2nd years and for the subsequent years Rs.20,000/- per month shall be paid.

Other Benefits:
JRFs are eligible for HRA and medical benefits. The fellowship amount shall be taken as Basic pay for this purpose. JRFs are eligible only for casual leave. Maternity leave as per Govt. of India instructions would be available to all female JRFs.

Selection Process:
The qualifications prescribed in this advertisement are the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make candidates eligible to be called for interview. Based on the experience and details of marks obtained by the applicants, the candidates will be shortlisted for interview.

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), the first Space University of Asia, offers courses from undergraduate to doctoral level in Space Science and Technology. Situated in the picturesque locale of Valiamala, the Institute is poised to become a world class centre of learning.

IIST offers B.Tech program in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and Physical Sciences. Admissions to this program arc based on the admission test, IS AT, conducted by IIST. Assistance is provided to all B. Tech students to cover the cost of education, boarding, lodging and healthcare. On successful completion of the course with prescribed academic standards, the students will be absorbed in ISRO as Scientists/Engineers.

ISAT- 2011- Detailed Notification

IIST ADMISSION TEST (ISAT- 2011)

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is a Deemed to be University funded by Department of Space offering undergraduate to post-doctoral programmes in Space Science and Technology. Located at Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram, the Institute is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for high quality education and research. Assistanceship is provided to every B.Tech student to cover the cost of education including boarding and lodging. On successful completion of the course with a specified academic performance, they will be absorbed in ISRO as Scientists/Engineers. IIST now invites applications for admissions to its B.Tech Programmes in Aerospace Engineering, Avionics and Physical Sciences for the academic year 2011-12. Admissions will be based on performance in the IIST Admission Test (ISAT-2011) to be conducted on Saturday, 16″‘ April 2011 in 23 cities across the country. Candidates for ISAT-2011 have to register online at IIST website: www.iist.ac.in/isat2011 or alternative website: http://iist.isac.gov.in/iist and follow the instructions therein. The facility for Online Registration will be available from 8th November 2010 to 31st December 2010.

WHO CAN APPLY?
Candidates satisfying the following criteria can apply:
1. Citizenship: Indian.
2. Date of Birth: Should be on or after October 1, 1986 in the case of GEN/OBC candidates. Should be on or after October 1, 1981 in the case of SC/ST/PD candidates.
3. Qualifying Examination (QE): Must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination in the first appearance with an aggregate of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (60% in the case of SC/ST/PD candidates), in the calendar year 2010 or 2011. Candidates who passed the QE earlier than 1st January 2010 are not eligible to apply. Those who are expecting the results later than July 1, 2011 are not eligible to apply.
4. Class X or equivalent: At least 70% marks for GEN/OBC category candidates and at least 60% marks for SC/ST/PD category candidates in aggregate, taking into account all subjects.

Note:
• The candidate must produce the proof of age at the time of Counseling.
• For converting letter grades/CGPA to marks in percentage, use the norms of the concerned Board of Examinations.

EXAMINATION FEE
Examination Fee for GEN and OBC candidates is Rs.600/-and for SC/ST/PD and all female candidates is Rs.300/-. Examination fee is payable in any one of the branches of State Bank of India (SBI) or Punjab National Bank (PNB) only, by using the Challan in triplicate which is downloadable/printable on successful completion of Online Registration through the above website. Fee remitted in any other form will not be accepted.

TEST CENTERS
The candidate has to choose any three different cities, in the order of preference of writing ISAT-2011, from the following:

HOW TO APPLY?
Candidate should register online by logging onto www.iist.ac.in/isat2011 or http://iist.isac.gov.in/iist.

The application process involves:
1. Online registration and submission of candidate details.
2. Printing of Challan from the website given above.
3. Remitting fees in any one of the branches of SBI or PNB.
4. Postal submission of Institute Copy of Challan by Speed Post to ISAT office.

RESERVATION OF SEATS
Seats are reserved for different categories as per the reservation policy of Govt. of India applicable to Central Educational Institutions.
